The Products tab lets you classify what you sell so Commenda can determine the correct tax treatment for each product or service in each jurisdiction.

Why product classification matters

Different products and services are taxed differently depending on the jurisdiction. For example:
  • Software may be taxable in one state but exempt in another
  • Food products may have a reduced rate
  • Professional services may not be subject to indirect tax
By classifying your products, Commenda can automatically apply the correct tax rates.

Managing products

Go to Indirect Tax and click the Products tab to view and manage your product catalog. For each product, you can set:
  • Product name — a descriptive name
  • Product category — the type of product or service
  • Tax code — the specific tax classification
  • Description — additional details

Adding products

Click Add product to create a new product classification. If you’ve connected your accounting software, Commenda may automatically import products from your existing catalog.
