Platform architecture

Commenda is built around three interconnected portals, each designed for a specific user type:
  • Company portal — Where businesses manage their own entities, compliance, and tax obligations
  • Advisor Portal — Where advisory firms manage compliance across multiple client businesses
  • Service provider portal — Where operational teams fulfill compliance work and manage service requests
These portals share data seamlessly. When a company user submits a service request, it appears in the service provider’s inbox. When an Advisor adds a client, that client’s compliance data becomes visible in the Advisor Portal.

Core workflow

1

Onboard your organization

Sign up for Commenda, create your organization, and add your business entities. Each entity represents a legal business structure (corporation, LLC, etc.) that you need to manage compliance for.
2

Configure your entities

Enable features for each entity based on your needs — indirect tax management, compliance monitoring, tax and reporting, and more. Connect your integrations (Shopify, Xero, QuickBooks, etc.) to automatically import transaction data.
3

Manage compliance

Commenda tracks your activity against registration thresholds in each jurisdiction and alerts you when action is needed. Manage your registrations, file returns, handle exemptions, and run tax calculations — all from a single dashboard.
4

Request services

When you need professional help with filings, registrations, or incorporations, create a service request. Track progress through defined steps, monitor SLA timelines, and collaborate with your service team via built-in chat.
5

Monitor ongoing compliance

The compliance calendar surfaces all upcoming deadlines across your entities and jurisdictions. Tax and reporting tracks your direct tax obligations and fiscal year requirements. Alerts notify you when action is needed.

Supported jurisdictions

Commenda currently supports compliance management in:
  • United States (all states and territories)
  • Canada
  • United Kingdom
  • Ireland
  • Singapore
  • United Arab Emirates
  • India
Jurisdiction support is actively expanding. Each jurisdiction may have different features available depending on local regulatory requirements.

Integrations

Commenda connects to your existing business tools to automatically import transaction and financial data. Currently supported integrations include:
  • Shopify — eCommerce transactions and order data
  • Stripe — Payment processing and subscription data
  • Xero — Accounting and financial data
  • QuickBooks — Accounting and bookkeeping data
  • NetSuite — ERP and financial management data
  • Zoho — Business and accounting data
  • WooCommerce — eCommerce transactions and order data
Integrations keep your compliance data up to date without manual data entry. You can connect multiple integrations per entity.

Security and data

Commenda uses a multi-tenant architecture with strict data isolation between organizations. Each organization’s data is logically separated and accessible only to authorized users. Document management includes secure information request workflows for safely exchanging sensitive compliance documents with your service providers.
